BSF troops foil infiltration attempt; 5 B’deshis held

SHILLONG, April 1: Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier troops on Monday apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals near Pyrdwah village in East Khasi Hills while they were attempting to infiltrate into Indian territory. Two Indian nationals were also arrested for aiding their illegal entry by transporting them in a taxi.
According to a statement here, alert troops of the 4 Bn BSF Meghalaya, acting on specific intelligence, had intercepted the movement of the Bangladeshi nationals and detained them.
All the apprehended individuals have been handed over to Pynursla Police Station in East Khasi Hills for further legal action.
It may be mentioned that in recent times, BSF has intensified intelligence gathering and operations along the border to curb infiltration attempts.
On Saturday, BSF personnel had apprehended one Bangladeshi national attempting to infiltrate into Indian territory through the East Jaintia Hills border.
