Ri-Bhoi DC directs govt staff to surrender NFSA ration cards
NONGPOH, April 2: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), Ri-Bhoi, has issued a notice, directing all government employees, including deficit and ad hoc teachers, holding NFSA Ration Cards (AAY/PHH category) to surrender them by April 30. The issuance of these ration cards was based on the 2011 Socio-Economic Caste Census, and over the past 14 years, many beneficiaries have secured government employment. As per regulations, government employees are ineligible for NFSA ration cards. Therefore, all such individuals are urged to return their cards within the deadline, ensuring that benefits reach the genuine poor, needy families, labourers and persons with disabilities. The Office of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply) is also compiling a list of government employees who continue to hold ration cards. Those failing to surrender their cards within the given timeframe may face legal action.
