Nongpoh CH nurse dies in road mishap

NONGPOH, April 12: In a tragic road accident on Friday night, a young nurse working at Nongpoh Civil Hospital lost her life after the car she was travelling in rammed into the rear of a moving truck (ML 10C 0234) along National Highway 6 at Lum Umpih, Umsning Bypass.
According to police sources, the incident occurred around 11 pm.
The victim, identified as Phyllashisha Lynser (25) from Umbir Lawsyiem village in Ri-Bhoi, was a passenger in an Alto car bearing registration number OR 02AG 7804. The vehicle was being driven by Chirub L Nonglait (27), from Iewrynghep village in East Khasi Hills.
Reports state that the collision caused both the driver and the passenger to be trapped inside the car, which had forcefully lodged itself under the rear of the truck.
Passers-by who witnessed the accident managed to rescue the driver and rushed him to Umsning CHC for medical attention. However, it took some time to extract Phyllashisha from the mangled vehicle.
By the time she was brought to Umsning CHC, doctors declared her brought dead due to the severity of her injuries, particularly to the head.
Police have informed that the body of the deceased has been taken to the morgue at Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
The injured driver, who sustained serious injuries, has been referred to Shillong Civil Hospital for better medical care.
