MoS Savitri Thakur to review welfare schemes during state visit

SHILLONG, April 14: Union Minister of State (MoS) for Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur, will undertake a three-day official visit to Meghalaya from April 15 to 17, with the objective of evaluating the implementation of various welfare schemes and strengthening coordination between the Centre and the state government.
As part of her itinerary, the MoS will chair a high-level review meeting with the Department of Social Welfare, focusing on central government-funded initiatives overseen by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. She is also scheduled to make a courtesy visit to the Governor of Meghalaya and will lead a comprehensive district-level assessment in East Khasi Hills in accordance with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) protocols.
On April 16, she will tour several key facilities in Shillong, including the One Stop Centre at Ganesh Das Hospital, Shakti Sadan in Mawroh, and a Child Care Institution located in Mawkasiang. Her schedule also includes visits to the Community Health Centre and Anganwadi Centre at Mawsmai.
Additionally, she will inspect development activities under flagship rural schemes such as MGNREGA and PMAY-G, and visit the Aqua Park-cum-Visitor Information Centre at Khliehshnong. Her tour will also involve an on-site review of infrastructure progress under the PMGSY rural road initiative.
