Shillong, April 15: The Benjamin Diengdoh Memorial U-16 Girls Inter-School cum Cluster Cricket Tournament 2025 got off to a fiery start as Mawsynram Cluster registered a commanding 151-run victory over Pongtung Cluster in the opening match.
The match, held under sunny skies, saw Pongtung winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Mawsynram’s batters rose to the occasion, posting a solid 159/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Leading the charge was Eliza Lyngdoh, who smashed an impressive 55 off 39 balls.
On the bowling front, Saramanbha Khongsit stood out for Pongtung, claiming 3 wickets for 20 runs in her 4-over spell.In response, Pongtung’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure, managing just 9 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 7 overs.
Eliza Lyngdoh turned destroyer with the ball as well, producing a sensational spell of 4 overs, taking 9 wickets for just 10 runs.
