SHILLONG, May 12: The East Khasi Hills district administration, in collaboration with the Zila Sainik Welfare Board, will organise a free 30 to 45-day pre-recruitment coaching camp for local youth who have applied for the 2025-26 Agniveer recruitment under the Agnipath Scheme.
The recruitment is scheduled for June.
Deputy Commissioner Rosetta M. Kurbah told reporters that the initiative aims to support and motivate local youth to join the armed forces.
“We found that many youths are unfamiliar with the recruitment process, including the syllabus and physical tests,” she noted.
Kurbah said the coaching camp, launched in 2023, has shown promising results. “Many of those who attended last year’s camp were selected,” she said.
Some 40 applications have been received for the upcoming programme this year.
The camp will include motivational sessions conducted by serving and retired Army officers.
Physical training, an essential component for passing the recruitment tests, will be provided through a partnership with the District Sports Officer (DSO), Kurbah said.
She said the DSO’s office will conduct a 30-day physical training camp to help the candidates prepare for the fitness test following the written exam.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shanborlang Warjri said the pre-recruitment coaching is designed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge, skills, and mindset to clear the Common Entrance Exam (CEE).
“In 2023, we trained about 200 candidates. Of those, 82 cleared the CEE, and 35 passed the physical fitness tests and secured jobs,” Warjri said.
Interested candidates can visit Room 319 at the DC’s office for more details about the training programme.
Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Lt. Col. (retd) Sebastian Marbaniang, was present during the media briefing.
