TURA, May 18: Tura MDC Bernard Marak has once again criticised the appointment of tax consultant Sumit Kumar Jain Bohra by the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), calling it a betrayal of educated Garo youths in the region.
In a press communiqué on Sunday, Marak stated that appointing a ‘fake’ Chartered Accountant for over Rs 8 crore was an injustice to qualified local candidates struggling to secure decent employment.
He alleged that Jain was merely a Class X pass and had not even completed his intermediate studies.
“Jain did not even complete XII and yet fooled the ruling MDCs and officials, and was appointed as consultant on assumption of being a Chartered Accountant (CA). Ruling MDCs in GHADC preferred a Class XII fail dropout over thousands of Garo graduates who have Commerce degrees. They have been betrayed by the ruling MDCs,” asserted Marak.
He further stated that to become a consultant, a bachelor’s degree is generally the minimum requirement, though master’s degrees, certifications and relevant work experience significantly enhance qualifications.
“A strong foundation in a relevant field like business administration, economics, finance or a related discipline is beneficial, but SK Jain does not qualify in any of the following requirements,” alleged Marak.
