Jowai, May 18: Ummulong CC has secured a spot in the final of the District Cricket League 2025, organized by the West Jaiñtia Hills District Cricket Association (WJHDCA), after defeating West Jaiñtia Police CC by 6 wickets on Sunday at Mini Stadium, Khliehtyrshi.
Winning the toss, Ummulong CC chose to bowl first. Mupliang SC struggled with the bat due to disciplined bowling from Ummulong CC and were bowled out for just 56 runs in 17.3 overs. Oniwanker Sna scored 13 runs off 22 balls and Sandy Kharshandi made 10 from 21 balls — the only two to reach double digits. Heimonlang Lyngdoh and Carefully Gassah of Ummulong CC took 3 wickets each.
In reply, Ummulong CC chased down the target quickly, scoring 60 runs in just 5 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Sylvester Mylliempdah (16 off 12) and Rejoice Gassah (16 off 7) were the top scorers. Defender Dhar and Sandy Kharshandi of Mupliang SC took 2 wickets each.
Heimonlang Lyngdoh was named Man of the Match for his excellent bowling and fielding performance.
Earlier, Mowkaiaw CYC defeated West Jaiñtia Police CC by 14 runs in the first semifinal. The final will now be played between Mowkaiaw CYC and Ummulong CC (the defending champions from 2024) on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, starting at 9 AM.
