SHILLONG, May 23: With an aim to inspire and showcase innovative, technology-driven solutions addressing biodiversity challenges specific to the Northeastern region, the North Eastern Regional Centre (NERC), ZSI, Shillong, conducted the regional-level screening of the 110-hour Hackathon at its centre here.
Organised as part of the celebrations marking 110 years of the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), the Hackathon, themed ‘Northeast Biodiversity’, was envisioned to encourage the development of creative and impactful approaches to conserving the rich and unique biodiversity of the Northeast.
Although over ten participants had registered from across India, the overlap with college and university examinations affected turnout.
“Ultimately, a single dedicated team from St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, led by Assistant Professor, Dr. Damanbha Lyngdoh, actively took part in the event and presented thoughtful ideas on biodiversity conservation,” a statement in this regard said.
