SHILLONG, May 27: The Shillong Cantonment area has been without water supply for the past 3-4 days, causing significant hardship for residents.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shillong Cantonment Board, Ayush Maurya, stated that a Public Health Engineering (PHE) water pipeline was damaged, leading to the disruption of water supply in the area. It is understood that the pipeline was damaged during ongoing highway construction work.
“We are working to restore the supply on a priority basis,” the CEO assured.
Some residents of the Cantonment area said they have been forced to purchase water at steep prices ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 600 due to the shortage.
