SHILLONG, June 4: The Meghalaya government’s ambitious plan of constructing massive iconic projects across the state has hit a temporary stumbling block as no bidder has come forward to execute these projects.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday admitted that the government had invited bids on two occasions for the Barik Redevelopment project and the beautification of the Mawkdok Viewpoint but there were no takers.
The government has invited fresh bids for the two projects.
With regard to the newly-constructed shopping mall at Polo, the government had invited bids to appoint a master operator to run the mall but there was no response to the bids.
Following this, the government has decided to invite bids for smaller packages to operate the mall.
