SHILLONG, June 10: The Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress (MPMC) on Tuesday expressed concern over the rising incidence of crimes involving youth across the country.
MPMC president Joplyn S. Shylla stated that the growing involvement of young individuals in violent and unlawful activities is a matter of serious concern.
According to her, this disturbing trend reflects deeper societal issues such as unemployment, lack of guidance, mental health challenges, substance abuse, and the negative influence of social media.
She urged both the central and state governments to take urgent and comprehensive measures to address the issue by strengthening the education system, introducing more effective youth engagement programs, and ensuring strict enforcement of laws. She also called upon communities, educators, and parents to play an active role in mentoring and supporting the younger generation.
Shylla reaffirmed the MPMC’s commitment to working for the welfare of youth and to promoting the safety and harmony of society at large.
