Meghalaya Karatekas shine at national championship

Shillong, June 16: Twenty-eight young karatekas from the All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association (AMKA) brought pride to the state after securing three medals at the prestigious 4th KIO National Cadet, Junior & Sub Junior Karate Championship 2025 held in Dehradun, Uttarakhand from June 12 to 15.
The state contingent, led by Donboklang Lyngdoh, Edwillbert K. Nongkynrih, and Ester Mary Lyngdoh, competed with grit and determination against the nation’s best, culminating in one silver and two bronze medals.
Esaranaki Kharjana stood out with a silver medal in the Sub-Junior Girls (13 Years, -50 kg) Individual Kumite category. Daphishisha Shadap clinched a bronze in the Junior Girls (-48 kg) Individual Kumite, while Royal Jayden Laloo added another bronze to the tally in the Sub-Junior Boys (11 Years, -40 kg) Individual Kumite category.
The All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association lauded the medal winners for their exceptional performance and extended heartfelt appreciation to all participants for showcasing commendable spirit, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
The Association has also expressed gratitude to the families, coaches, and support staff for this achievement.
