SHILLONG, June 17: In a bid to inspire young minds and foster awareness about careers in the Indian Armed Forces, PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Umroi Cantt organised a motivational session on ‘Career in Indian Army’ for students of Classes XI and XII on Tuesday. The session was held in the school library and was facilitated by a serving officer of the Indian Army stationed at Umroi Military Station.
The session provided comprehensive information about two major entry routes into the Indian Army — the Agniveer Scheme for youth recruitment and the prestigious National Defence Academy (NDA) entry for officer cadre. The officer highlighted the values of discipline, leadership, sacrifice, and patriotism that define life in the armed forces.
During the session, students were shown a well-structured presentation that included real-time visuals, success stories, and motivational slogans such as “Be a Winner for Life – Join the Indian Army.” The session also addressed the selection process, eligibility, training, and post-service opportunities under the Agnipath Scheme, along with preparation tips for NDA aspirants.
School librarian Krishna Nand Singh, who coordinated the programme, emphasised the importance of such interactive events in broadening the horizons of students. “A library is not just a storehouse of books, but a launchpad for ideas and inspiration,” he stated.
The students enthusiastically participated in the Q&A session and expressed renewed interest in exploring the Indian Armed Forces as a career option. Teachers, library staff, and faculty appreciated the informative nature of the program and expressed their gratitude to the Army personnel for their valuable guidance.
