Clarissa C. Giri has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Anthropology by North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, for her thesis titled ‘Rites of Passage among the Pnar of Meghalaya’, which is a key ethnographic microstudy on indigenous cultural practices in the region, focusing on the Ñiam Tre population of Nangbah, West Jaintia Hills. She completed the research under the guidance of Prof. Lucy Zehol. She is the daughter of Deborah Betsy Giri and a resident of Laitumkhrah, Shillong.
