Knife attack
Enora A Sangma lodged a complaint that on June 15, around 5.20 pm, one Tyson K Marak (34) attacked her with a knife at Upper Wadanang, Jangga, Tura, West Garo Hills. As a result, the complainant sustained injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital, Tura.

Scooter stolen
Sabian Lynrah lodged a complaint that on June 17 morning, miscreant(s) stole his scooter (ML-05AD-0130) from his residence at Mawkasiang in Esat Khasi Hills.

Bicycle theft
Nabita Upadhya verbally reported that on June 16, miscreant(s) stole her son’s bicycle valued around Rs 10,000 from their residence in Upper Mawprem, Shillong.

Govt job fraud
A female resident of a locality in West Garo Hills lodged a complaint that on Oct 5, 2021, one Abdul Salam Shah claimed to be a leader of one national political party having direct link with the Minister of Home Affairs, and cheated her of Rs 8 lakh on the pretext of providing government job to her son in BSF.

Fund misuse
N Hemanta Meitei, Inspector of Post Office, East Garo Hills Division, lodged a complaint that Doma K Sangma, Sub-Post Master of Nongalbibra, Sub Post office (SGH), misused office fund amounting to Rs 27.24 lakh. The complainant further stated that the Post Master of Tura Head office (WGH) in three separate letters (dated February 2, 2025; February 18, 2025; and April 23, 2025) instructed Doma K Sangma to remit the excess cash, to which he (Doma K Sangma) failed to comply.

Loan fraud
A male resident of a locality in West Garo Hills lodged a complaint that on Jun 10, he applied for a loan on a Digital Lending platform (Bajaj Finance). Few minutes later, he received one anonymous phone call, wherein the caller claimed to be from Bajaj Finance Pvt. Ltd., company and informed him that his loan has been approved and also asked him to pay Rs 16,005 for disbursing the same, to which he complied. Later, the anonymous caller asked him again to pay another Rs 5,200 and thereafter another anonymous caller claiming to be from the same company informed him that his loan is on hold and he needs to pay more money; however, the complainant did not comply with their further demand. Following this, the anonymous caller(s) asked his ATM card and Internet Banking details, to which he refused.

Duped
A female resident of a locality in Tura, West Garo Hills, lodged a complaint that she received an anonymous phone call, wherein the caller introduced himself as an SBI Bank employee from Mumbai and duped her of Rs 2.76 lakh, on the pretext of providing her a loan of Rs 5.5 lakh.

Fake websites
Harfot Singh of Hotel Polo Towers, Shillong lodged a complaint that a fake/fraud websites of Hotel Polo Towers, Shillong, and Polo Orchid Resort, Sohra, were created by miscreant(s) to scam the customers and the general public. The complainant said that this was causing inconveniences to their guests and causing losses to the aforementioned hotels.

Break-in
Persha Kharkongor lodged a complaint that on June 17, miscreant(s) broke into her residence at Lawsohtun Block-V, Shillong, and stole Rs 71,000 in cash.
Manju Roy appeared at Dobasipara OP in West Garo Hills on June 13 and verbally reported that miscreant(s) broke into her residence and stole Rs 52,000 in cash and gold ornaments valued around Rs 1 lakh.

Theft
Satyam Yadav lodged a complaint that on June 16, miscreant(s) stole wires, which were installed for Smart City Project at VMD Red Cross, Shillong.
Vidan Chettri lodged a complaint that on June 15, around 11.06 pm, one Kamal Chettri along with his accomplice stole two bundles of CPRC pipes valued around Rs 20,000 from Laxmi Transport Agency, Demseiñïong, Shillong. However, the incident was captured in CCTV footage.
