The two-day-long Rasong National Tribal Music Festival will begin at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong from 12 pm onwards. It is being organised by the Department of Arts and Culture.
The Social Welfare department will observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at the State Convention Centre, Shillong, from 10 am. Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will serve as the chief guest while Social Welfare Minister Kyrmen Shylla will be the guest of honour. As part of the observance, a cycle rally will also be flagged off by Mawkyrwat MLA Renikton L Tongkhar from the State Convention Centre at 9 am.
The office of the District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills, will observing the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2025 under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan on the theme of ‘Breaking the Chains: Prevention, Treatment and Recovery for All’ at the Community Hall, Mission Compound, Shillong, from 11 am onwards.
The District Legal Services Authority Shillong will observe the ‘International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking and the NALSA (Dawn Drug Awareness and Wellness Navigation-for a drug free India) Scheme 2025’ at Shillong Law College, Dhankheti, from 10:30 am onwards.
To commemorate International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Press Information Bureau, Shillong, will organise a special media interaction under the banner ‘Varta’. Themed on ‘Combating Drug Abuse: Customs Department’s Role in Enforcement’, the event will be held at the GST Training Hall, Shillong (opposite Main Secretariat), at 3.30 pm.
