Shillong, June 30: In a landmark move for combat sports in the state, the All Meghalaya KickBoxing Association has officially announced the 1st State Level KickBoxing Championship, scheduled to be held on September 12 and 13, 2025, at the Bharat Scouts & Guides premises in Shillong.
Speaking to the media, Samuel Hashah, President of the Association, described the upcoming event as a historic milestone — marking the first state-level kickboxing tournament ever conducted in Meghalaya.
The championship will also serve as a celebration of the association’s 10th anniversary, commemorating a decade of efforts to develop and promote the sport within the state.
Hashah emphasised that the dual purpose of the event is both celebratory and developmental.
“This championship is not just a tribute to our journey over the past ten years, but also a platform to discover and nurture new talent across Meghalaya,” he said.
The association has extended an open invitation to all kickboxing clubs, associations, schools, and colleges across the state to participate, encouraging the active involvement of both male and female youth. Interested individuals or institutions are requested to register by contacting 8731022338.
Hashah also made a heartfelt appeal to the general public for their support and called upon the State Government and the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs to assist in ensuring the championship’s success.
The two-day event is expected to draw widespread participation and set the stage for future growth of kickboxing as a mainstream sport in Meghalaya.
As Meghalaya prepares to witness its first-ever state-level kickboxing championship, the event promises to be a defining moment for the sport’s future in the region.
