KHLIEHRIAT, July 1: Curtain came down on a two-week Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan IEC awareness campaign in East Jaintia Hills district on Monday, marking the conclusion of extensive outreach programmes across the blocks of Wapung, Saipung and Lumshnong.
The concluding day of the campaign witnessed awareness programmes in Khliehriat West (covering residents of Khliehriat West, Khliehriat East, and Deinshynrum) under Wapung Block and in Muallian village under Saipung Block.
The two-week campaign, which commenced on June 18, saw active participation from officials representing the offices of Block Development Officers (BDOs) and various line departments, including Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Fisheries, Social Welfare, Tourism, PHE, Health and Skill Development.
They sensitised attendees on various government schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), PM-KISAN, Piggery Development Scheme, Goat Farming Scheme, Dairy Development Scheme, National Livestock Mission Entrepreneurship Development Programme, Kisan Credit Card (KCC), Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY).
The key purpose of the initiative was to implement the benefit saturation model, thereby ensuring that no eligible tribal household is left out of government entitlements.
Following each programme, officials interacted with community members to explain the schemes in detail and guide them on accessing benefits.
The campaign also featured informative IEC materials through banners displayed by line departments, providing guidance on flagship schemes such as the National Health Mission, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, Deen Dayal Upadhaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, Skill India Mission, National Sickle Cell Mission, Telecom Technology Development Fund and Financial Literacy initiatives.
It may be mentioned that the campaign is a transformative initiative aimed at inclusive and sustainable development in tribal regions, addressing critical gaps in social infrastructure, healthcare, education and livelihoods.
The Abhiyan was organised to mark the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Birsa Munda, which is commemorated as Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh.
