Widow accuses brother-in-law of rape in UP
PILIBHIT, July 8: A widow in UP’s Pilibhit district has accused her brother-in-law of rape and her in-laws of forcing her to undergo abortion.The woman alleged that her brother-in-law sexually assaulted her under the pretext of marriage following the death of her husband.She further claimed that when she became pregnant, her in-laws forcibly terminated the pregnancy. The woman’s father alleged that when he opposed the actions of the accused, they threatened to kill him.In her statement to the police, the victim said after the death of her husband, her brother-in-law began exploiting her sexually by manipulating her emotionally.When she was five months pregnant, she informed her mother-in-law about the situation.The mother-in-law, father-in-law and another relative assaulted her in response.On June 23, she was allegedly taken to a house where she was forced to undergo an abortion. India tests anti-submarine rocket system
NEW DELHI, July 8: India has tested an extended range anti-submarine rocket system that is expected to significantly enhance the Indian Navy’s fire power.The user trials of Extended Range Anti-Submarine Rocket (ERASR) have been successfully carried out from INS Kavaratti, officials said.Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the Defence Research Development Organisation, Indian Navy and the industry involved in development and trials of the system.“He has added that the successfully induction of this system will boost the striking power of the Indian Navy,” Singh’s office said on ‘X’. Woman, toddler killed by ex-lover
NEW DELHI, July 8: A woman and a six-month-old toddler were found with their throats slit allegedly by her live-in partner in north Delhi’s Majnu Ka Tila area. The incident came to light when neighbours, sensing something was wrong, alerted the police.The woman (22)was at her friend’s residence, two blocks away from her house where she lived with her partner.The victim had gone to her friend’s home after having a fight with her partner. At the time of the incident, the mother was out picking up her elder child from school.Later, the accused came to the house and allegedly killed the woman and the toddler, the source said, adding that the child’s father, who runs a mobile shop, was also out for work at the time of the murder.Police reached the scene and found both victims lying in a pool of blood inside a room, the source stated.Meanwhile, the accused remains at large, and police teams have been formed to nab him.
