Two gold snatchers in city police net

SHILLONG, July 17: Shillong Police have arrested two persons allegedly involved in snatching gold items in Polo area late Wednesday night.
The suspects, identified as Kenny Kharmujat (24) and Subroto Baidya (32), both residents of Lumshyiap, Nongmensong, had allegedly snatched a gold item from an unidentified person, suspected to be a drug user.
Acting promptly, a police team led by Sub Inspector, I Warjri, accompanied by constable, AD Sangma and personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) pursued and apprehended both the suspects near the Kim Hyundai showroom, Golf Links at around 11.45 pm.
A gold pendant was recovered from the possession of Kenny Kharmujat.
SP (City) Herbert Kharkongor on Thursday urged citizen who may have recently been subjected to theft or lost gold ornaments under suspicious circumstances to file a formal complaint at Sadar police station.
Kharkongor said this will enable the police to take appropriate action, and upon proper identification and verification facilitate the return of the recovered gold pendant to its rightful owner.
