Cabinet Minister Paul Lyngdoh along with members of the Gorkha Association Shillong. The Gorkha Association Shillong celebrated its 139th foundation day on July 20, 2025. Lyngdoh, who attended the celebrations as the chief guest, donated Rs 1 Lakh to the association. On the day, the association honoured, Birendra Thapa, Salil Gewali and Narendra Tamang. Thapa was feted for his achievement for being named the head coach of the Shillong Lajong FC. Gewali, on the other hand, was honoured for his book Great Minds on
India. Meanwhile, Tamang was celebrated for his tireless service to the association. Tamang, the senior most serving member of the Gorkha Association Shillong, has been serving for the last 57 years. Bir Bahadur Chettri, the oldest surviving member of the association also graced the celebration as its guest of honour.
