Winter Capital demand gains momentum

TURA, July 27: Pushing for the creation of a Winter Capital in Tura, the 17th Winter Capital meeting was held on Saturday at Jangrapara under Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills.
The meeting, organised by the A.chik State Peoples’ Front (ASPF) from Jangrapara, was attended by village Sordars, Nokmas, women’s groups and youth representatives. Members of organisations such as Achik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM), Achik Youth Welfare Organization (AYWO) and Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) were also present.
During the meeting, ASPF general secretary Bernita Marak and GSMC leader Balkarin Marak, among others, addressed the gathering.
All the speakers highlighted the importance of establishing Tura as the Winter Capital, while also urging everyone to remain united in pursuing the demand.
