Loomïongkjam SC, Mynsngat storm into U-17 ID Cup semis

JOWAI, Aug 11: The Independence Day Cup U-17 Football Tournament 2025, organised by the West Jaiñtia District Sports Association (WJDSA), kicked off its quarter-final stage on Monday at Kiang Nangbah Stadium, Dongmihsngi, Jowai, with two high-intensity matches.
In the day’s opening clash, Loomïongkjam SC edged past hosts Dongmihsngi 1-0, thanks to a decisive strike from Pynskem Chyrmang in the ninth minute.
The second quarter-final saw a goal fest as Mynsngat cruised to a commanding 6-0 victory over Panaliar. Ribait Bang netted a brilliant hat-trick with goals in the 12th, 35th, and 56th minutes.
Wallam Mukhim added to the tally in the 43rd minute, while Mebantei Mukhim struck in the 47th. An own goal by Panaliar’s Yooia I Sumer in the 53rd minute further sealed their fate.
The remaining two quarter-final fixtures will be played on Tuesday, with both matches promising more thrilling action as teams vie for a spot in the semi-finals.
With Loomïongkjam SC and Mynsngat already securing their berths, the stage is now set for an exciting finish to the quarter-finals.
Fans can expect fierce competition in the coming matches as the remaining teams battle to join them in the semi-finals, keeping the race for the coveted Independence Day Cup wide open.
