SHILLONG, Aug 11: The Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Sohra, will organise a slew of activities to mark the closing ceremony of its centenary celebrations from September 12 to 14.
According to a statement, September 13 has been designated as Special Alumni Day, providing a meaningful platform for former students of all RKM Schools in Meghalaya to reconnect, reminisce and celebrate the milestones of their alma mater, as well as the enduring legacy of the Mission that has profoundly shaped their lives.
The day will begin with a centenary walk at 7 am, a symbolic journey from Saitsohpen to the RKM Ashrama Campus at Khliehshnong—a gesture of remembrance, fellowship and gratitude. This will be followed by a formal function and the Centenary Lecture, featuring addresses by dignitaries, alumni reminiscences, and reflections on the Mission’s 100 years of service to Meghalaya and beyond.
The celebration will conclude with a cultural programme in which former students will showcase performances reflecting the cultural heritage and values nurtured during their school years.
Meanwhile, Ramakrishna Mission School, Sohra, Alumni Association secretary, Banlam K. Lyngdoh, has invited alumni of all RKM Schools in Meghalaya to attend the occasion with their families and to show solidarity by contributing towards the cause.
“Let us come together in the spirit of brotherhood, gratitude, and celebration to honour the legacy of the Ashrama that shaped so many of our lives,” he said.
