Riti Academy excellence award for 5 individuals

SHILLONG, Aug 12: Five individuals from diverse creative and academic fields were honoured during the 8th Riti Academy Annual Award Ceremony held at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.
The Crystal Gayle Kharnaior Memorial Award for excellence in digital arts was presented to Ricky Paul Marwein. Other awardees included Dr Mebanlamphang Lyngdoh, recipient of the Rana Kharkongor Award for Excellence in Music and Literature; Rangkitbok C Dohkrut, recipient of the S Quotient Sumer Award for Excellence in Literature; Kyrmenlang Uriah, recipient of the Sumar Sing Sawian Award for Excellence in Media; and Ram Kymjiñ, recipient of the Prithpal Singh Sehdev Award for Excellence in Visual Arts.
Interacting with the awardees, Governor CH Vijayashankar commended Riti Academy for its dedicated efforts in recognising and celebrating deserving young talents of the state. He lauded the initiative to honour excellence across various fields and stressed the importance of collective responsibility in guiding youth towards constructive engagement.
Expressing concern over the growing issues of drug abuse, early marriage, and HIV among the younger generation, the Governor underlined the urgent need to create positive avenues for channelling their potential.
The awards were presented by the Governor in the presence of Riti Academy Chairman Raphael Warjri, FR Kharkongor, Dr BDR Tiwari, and family members of the distinguished personalities in whose memory the awards were instituted.
The ceremony concluded with an emotional tribute song by Dalariti G Kharnaior in memory of her late sister, Crystal Gayle Kharnaior, on the eighth anniversary of her passing.
