Rajinikanth’s Coolie hits screens amid frenzied fan celebrations

The much-anticipated, star-studded ‘Coolie,’ starring superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role, hit the silver screens across Tamil Nadu on Thursday with frenzied fans celebrating the latest entertainer from their ‘Thalaivar’.
Actors and fans made a beeline to watch the film and also shared the euphoria on their social media pages.
Significantly, the release of the movie coincides with Rajinikanth completing 50 years in cinema.
Early on Thursday, crowds, mostly ardent fans of the star, swelled across cinema theatres to catch the first day first show of the movie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin reportedly watched a special screening of the movie, produced by Sun Pictures on Wednesday. “Honourable Chief Minister @CMOTamilNadu sir, thank you so much for your wishes and love for #Coolie sir,” Kanakaraj said in a social media message.
Actors Dhanush and Sivakarthikeyan were among the Tamil stars to watch the film on its release day here.
Across the state, fans danced to the beats of drums and burst crackers to mark the release of the film which boasts of a cast including top Indian actors Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna and Upendra.
Said to be a revenge saga, the cast also includes Sathyaraj and Shruti Haasan.
Anirudh R has scored the music and the songs, including ‘Monica’, have become chart busters, with Malayalam actor Shoubin’s steps to the fast-paced number becoming the talking point of tinseltown in the recent days. Kanakaraj termed the film as ‘special.’ “#Coolie will always be a special film in my journey, and the reason this film shaped up the way it did with everyone pouring their hearts and love into it is because of you, #Thalaivar @rajinikanth sir. Will forever be grateful for this opportunity, and the conversations we’ve shared both on and off the film!These are moments I will always cherish and never forget,” he said. (PTI)
