SHILLONG, Aug 14: The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) on Thursday expressed concern over the mandatory requirement to submit budget and fund proposals for teachers’ salaries through the Megh-SIMS portal.
Speaking to reporters, MSSASA president Aristotle Rymbai said that while the initiative to digitise and streamline processes is commendable, the association has found several discrepancies in the portal’s database — including errors in teachers’ names, dates of joining, and other employment records — which do not match the official UDISE records.
He warned that such inaccuracies could seriously affect salary processing and the maintenance of future service records.
Rymbai further pointed out that teachers and head teachers are currently unable to access the Megh-SIMS portal to verify or correct their personal and service information, increasing the risk of persistent errors and unfair treatment for those affected. “In many cases, teachers’ names are missing altogether from the Megh-SIMS portal, making it impossible to include them in the budgeting and fund requisition process. Without urgent rectification, this will lead to delays or non-payment of salaries, causing undue hardship for the affected teachers,” he said.
The MSSASA has submitted a letter to the Director of School Education & Literacy, Banteilang Kharchandi, urging immediate action to address the issue.
