TURA, Aug 18: A YouTube video containing false and misleading information on Unique Disability ID (UDID) scheme was reportedly flagged by the West Garo Hills District Administration.
According to a release from the district administration, the video uploaded by a content creator from Meghalaya, in the YouTube channel ‘Sanba local tv’ falsely claimed that persons who apply for a UDID card would receive a monthly monetary benefit of Rs 15,000. It further instructed viewers to select “low vision” as their disability category, regardless of their actual condition, in order to qualify for these purported benefits.
“The district administration, taking cognizance of the seriousness of the misleading content, has taken strict and appropriate measures to contain the misinformation,” the release stated, urging the public to verify online information on schemes.
