Man strangles wife after quarrel, dies by suicide
NASHIK, Aug 19: A 33-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife following a quarrel and committed suicide in Maharashtra’s Nashik city, police said.Chetan Nana Madkar, an autorickshaw driver, allegedly quarrelled with his wife, Swati (27), on Monday night and strangled her with a dupatta. He then hanged himself from the ceiling using a saree.The couple, who had three children, quarrelled frequently over Madkar’s addiction to alcohol.The official said the victim had gone to live with her mother a few days ago and had returned to her husband after noticing some positive changes in his behaviour.A case of murder has been registered. Woman, lover nabbed for killing husband
JAIPUR, Aug 19: A woman and her lover were arrested in connection with the murder of her husband in Kheirathal Tijara district.Laxmi Devi, the wife of Hansram, and her lover Jitendra Sharma, the son of the married couple’s landlord, were nabbed.The two, who had decamped after dumping Hansram’s body in a plastic tank, confessed to the crime during questioning, police said.Police said the two were detained from a brick kiln.Investigations indicate that Laxmi and Jitendra plotted the murder in a bid to conceal their affair. The victim, Hansram, was killed on the night of August 15. The body was later found inside a blue plastic drum on the roof of their rented accommodation.Laxmi had borrowed the drum from her landlord, saying she needed it to store water. (PTI)
2 men booked for assaulting female doctor in Noida
NOIDA, Aug 19: Two men were booked for allegedly assaulting a female doctor and making a video of the whole act in the Dankaur area of the district.One of the accused was an acquaintance of the victim.According to Dr Suman Singh, the complainant, the incident took place on Sunday, when one Nitin Bhati called her for a meeting.Both of them were talking near a dhaba when another man, Mohit Bhati, arrived at the eatery and started misbehaving with her, police said.When she resisted Mohit, Nitin beat her, and Mohit started filming the incident.The two also threatened to kill her, according to the woman, police said. Priest accuses UP minister of encroaching temple land
DEORIA, Aug 19: The chief priest of a Hanuman temple here on Tuesday staged a sit-in, accusing UP Minister Vijay Lakshmi Gautam of illegally encroaching on the shrine’s land.The minister, however, denied the allegations, saying a revenue survey has not found any encroachment on the temple land.Mahant Rajesh Narayan Das alleged that a forged sale deed was used to occupy the temple’s western portion. He claimed the district administration failed to act under political pressure, and demanded that CMYogi Adityanath send a probe team to protect the temple land.Officials reached the sit-in spot and assured the chief priest of conducting an inquiry, following which the mahant called off his protest.
