Govt to relocate hawkers from three more locations

SHILLONG, Aug 20: After the successful relocation of hawkers from Khyndai Lad, the state government is now targetting to relocate hawkers from three more locations in the city by November this year.
Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Wednesday said the government will continue to remove and relocate hawkers from Laitumkhrah, Civil Hospital and Motphran in a phase-wise manner.
The targeted completion period is November this year,” he said.
Asked about the number of hawkers and the possible location for their relocation, Lyngdoh said the government has taken a decision and details will be worked out.
Asked about some vendors still demanding certificates of vending in Khyndai Lad, Lyngdoh said the Town Vending Committee has learnt some lessons and they should be in a position to improve further on their next task.
