17-year-old girl reported missing from EWKH; police suspect kidnapping

SHILLONG, Aug 25: A 17-year-old girl from Permadan village in Eastern West Khasi Hills has been reported missing since August 15, with police suspecting that she may have been kidnapped.
According to a written complaint received at Mairang Police Station on August 18, the girl, identified as Ribaiahun Marngar, went missing at around 10 am from a shop where she worked in Permadan village.
She is suspected to have been kidnapped by one Thomborlang Sohphoh of Umdum village. Their whereabouts remain unknown.
Police have registered a case under Mairang PS Case No. 81(8)2025, U/S 137(1)(b)(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and investigation is currently under way.
The missing girl has been described as fair-complexioned, about 5 feet tall, with long black hair. She was last seen wearing a white blouse with black printed stars, a brown Khasi traditional ‘jainkyrshah’ with white stripes, and black pants.
