SHILLONG, Aug 31: The East Khasi Hills Police are continuing their investigation into the assault of several youths, suspected to be drug addicts, as seen in a video that has gone viral on social media.
East Khasi Hills SP, Vivek Syiem on Sunday said the police are working to identify both the location and the individuals responsible for the assault.
“We will take necessary action once we are able to identify and apprehend those involved,” Syiem stated.
He acknowledged the public’s anger over the rise in drug-related incidents but cautioned that taking the law into one’s own hands is not the solution and is, in fact, illegal.
The police have urged the public to report drug-related crimes through proper channels rather than resorting to vigilantism.
