All Saints lift U-17 boys team crown; Pine Mount sweep girls’ titles

Shillong, Sep 5: The 2nd Inter School Table Tennis Championship concluded with a flurry of finals on Friday, wrapping up two days of competition organised by LBAN Sports Club on 4–5 September 2025.
The meet featured team and singles events across Under-12 and Under-17 categories, with schools from across the city figuring prominently on the podium.
All Saints Diocesan HS School clinched the Under-17 Boys Team title, defeating B K Bajoria School 3–1 in the final. The tie turned decisively All Saints’ way when Debobrata Paul swept past Dhruv Dey 11–5, 11–5, 11–2 after earlier wins for Paul over Sagnik Choudhury and the All Saints doubles pair over Dey/Choudhury. St Edmunds School edged RISA HS School 3–2 to secure third place.
In singles, Debobrata Paul completed a memorable double by adding the Under-17 Boys Singles crown with a gritty 3–2 victory over Dhruv Dey in the title match (10–12, 11–4, 11–9, 9–11, 11–3). Earlier, Paul had come through a five-setter against Sagnik Choudhury in the semi-finals, while Dey swept past Ansh Ray. Ray later claimed the bronze with a 3–0 win over Choudhury (11–6, 11–6, 11–8).
Pine Mount School enjoyed a standout day on the girls’ side. Shriya Thapa captured the Under-17 Girls Singles title with a commanding 3–0 result against teammate Saachi Mizar (11–5, 11–9, 12–10), after both cruised through their semi-finals. Havisha Poddar (Loreto Convent) took third place with a hard-fought 3–2 over Eva Sewa (8–11, 14–12, 7–11, 11–9, 11–8). Pine Mount also topped the Under-17 Girls Team event, finishing ahead of RISA HS School and B K Bajoria School.
In the Under-12 Boys Singles final, Niyon Kashyap (KV EAC Upper Shillong) rallied past Wangden Lama 3–1 (13–15, 11–8, 11–7, 12–10), with Shivansh Pariyar (Army Public School) claiming bronze after a straight-games win over Naman S Adhikari (11–5, 11–6, 11–7). KV EAC Upper Shillong also took the Under-12 Boys Team title, followed by Army Public School and BDW International School.
Saachi Mizar added the Under-12 Girls Singles crown to Pine Mount’s haul with a 3–0 victory in the final (11–1, 11–4, 11–7).
The podium was completed by Havisha Poddar (runner-up, Loreto Convent) and Daw Shing Shing Marma (third, RISA HS School), who defeated Navya Adhikari 3–0 (11–4, 11–1, 11–8) in the bronze match.
In the U-17 Boys Team event, All Saints Diocesan HS School emerged champions, followed by B K Bajoria School in second place and St Edmunds School in third. The U-17 Girls Team title went to Pine Mount School, with RISA HS School finishing runners-up and B K Bajoria School taking third spot. In the U-12 Boys Team category, KV EAC Upper Shillong secured first place ahead of Army Public School and BDW International School.

In the U-17 Girls Singles, Pine Mount’s Shriya Thapa took the title ahead of teammate Saachi Mizar, with Havisha Poddar of Loreto Convent finishing third.
The U-12 Boys Singles crown went to Niyon Kashyap of KV EAC Upper Shillong, who topped his schoolmate Wangden Lama in the final, while Shivansh Pariyar of Army Public School finished third. In the U-12 Girls Singles, Pine Mount’s Saachi Mizar emerged champion, Loreto Convent’s Havisha Poddar was runner-up, and RISA HS School’s Daw Shing Shing Marma secured third place.
Earlier on the day, league-phase and classification ties included BDW International School’s 3–0 win over St Anthony’s HS School in U-12 Boys Team (Group A), underscoring the depth across the field on finals day.
