Shillong, Sep 5: Donlad Diengdoh (41’, 44’, 59’) struck a hat-trick for Langsning as they demolished Sawmer 6-0 in the Shillong Premier League 2025 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here on Friday.
Nikelson Bina (13’P), Richie Kharbani (66’) and Medingroy Makdoh (89’) were the other scorers. Sawmer had a player sent off but that was when they were 5-0 down, so the damage had already been done.
Nikelson converted a penalty after Donlad was brought down in the box by Sawmer’s Khrawkupar Tamu. Nikelson then turned provider for the second goal, with Donlad taking the shot almost off balance but finding the placement past Sawmer goalkeeper Pyrshangbanbha Dkhar.
Only a few minutes later, Donlad was well in front of the defenders but the last touch before the ball came straight to him was from a poor back pass by Sawmer, so there was no question of the Langsning striker being offside. He still had work to do to swerve around Khrawkupar and Pyrshangbanbha but he did so expertly and found the back of the net. Changing ends, Donlad got his hat-trick by leaping full stretch into the air to meet a cross from the right, which he headed into the net, becoming only the second player this season to score a treble, after Mylliem’s Alem Khongwir a couple of days ago.
Richie then bagged his first goal of the season by heading in a Dajiedlang Wanshnong free-kick and after that Sawmer had a player sent off for a rough tackle.
Medingroy’s goal (also his first of SPL 2025) was another header, which came off a cross from the left flank.
Victory moved Langsning up to second in the standings on 7 points, tied with Shillong Lajong but with a better goal difference (+9 to +7).
However, Lajong have a game in hand. Sawmer’s heavy defeat drops them into the relegation zone in ninth position based on a poorer goal difference.
They have 3 points, tied with Laitkor and Malki but have a goal difference of -12, compared to Laitkor’s -1 and Malki’s -7.
On Saturday Nongrim Hills will face Laitkor at 4:30pm.
