Shillong, Sep 6: The Inter School Basketball Tournament 2025 got underway with a thrilling start at Pearly Dew Higher Secondary School on Saturday, as five keenly contested matches set the pace for what promises to be an exciting competition.
Organised by Dubakh Sports Pvt. Ltd., the tournament was inaugurated in the presence of Meghalaya Basketball Association General Secretary, Wallambok Iawphniaw, alongside members of the East Khasi Hills District Basketball Association, who encouraged the young athletes with their presence.
The opening game saw Mizo Modern Higher Secondary School overpower Mawkhar Christian HSS 39–13, with L. Mizar (10 points) and A. Das (8 points) leading the charge. Jaiaw Presbyterian HSS edged out St. Edmund’s School 46–43 in a nail-biting clash, thanks to a stellar 27-point effort by G. Umlong.
Hosts Pearly Dew HSS registered a 34–23 victory against Shillong Public School, riding on D. Suting’s 19 points, while Little Flower HSS overcame Dinet Manik Memorial HSS 36–29, spearheaded by G. Kharbuki’s 24 points.The day concluded with a high-octane encounter where St. Edmund’s School narrowly defeated Mizo Modern HSS 39–38, with D. Kharbuki chipping in 13 points to seal the win.
Speaking after the matches, Dulon Banjop Kharsati, Founder and Head Coach of Dubakh Sports Pvt. Ltd., said, “We are thrilled to see such competitive spirit and sportsmanship on the opening day.
