SHILLONG, Sep 7: The general meeting of the Meghalaya Editors’ and Publishers’ Association (MEPA), held at the Shillong Club on Saturday elected new office-bearers for the next three-year term.
R Monarch Shabong was re-elected as MEPA president, while John W Thabah retained his position as general secretary.
The vice presidents elected at the meeting are Dr Kamal K Jhunjhunwala, Rajib Choudhuri, Markus M Thaïang, Raphael Warjri, and Russel Nongrum. The newly elected joint secretaries are John Lyngdoh and Purbasha Bhattacharjee. Kyrmen Uriah was re-elected as organising secretary, while Deimebanda Blah was re-elected as treasurer.
Seven Executive Members were also elected: Justice Marweiñ, E M Jose, Apporlet Shabong, Starfing Pdahkasiej, Deimaïa Siangshai, Sunday Sumer, Dominic Savio Diengdoh, and Banker Lapang.
The meeting also deliberated on several issues concerning media houses and journalists in the State. The open session was graced by Information and Public Relations Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, in the presence of Commissioner and Secretary (IPR) Vijay Kumar Mantri and Director of Information and Public Relations Batlang Sohliya.
