SHILLONG, Sep 12: A collaborative art workshop hosted by the Community Centre for Arts, Crafts and Culture, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), at Café Cherrapunji, Mawkdok, brought together an inspiring blend of art, poetry, and dialogue featuring distinguished guest artists and poet Sono Kuwayama and Bob Holman, known internationally for their contributions to the arts and spoken word poetry.
Their presence brought the event into a vibrant exchange of ideas and expressions.
The event was thoughtfully designed around the theme of collaboration between the verbal and the visual, the spoken word and imagery, exploring the deep interconnections between language and art. Participants engaged in interactive sessions, haiku writing, and collaborative art-making that encouraged both personal and collective expression.
“This workshop explored collaboration not just between individuals or teams, but across different art forms,” said a representative of the Community Centre. “It was about the fusion of diverse expressions, the dialogue between image and voice, and the power of creativity across cultures and mediums.”
The event drew wide participation from the local artists’ community, as well as students and faculty from the centre and the School of Language and Cultural Communications. This event was also attended by the Pro VC, Dr Larilin Kharpuri and Registrar, Dr Iadonlang Tynsong.
