SHILLONG, Sept 14: The state government has clarified that students availing the newly launched Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme (CMSS), which provides annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000, will remain eligible for the Post Matric ST Scholarship as well as other central and state schemes.
The clarification was issued on Sunday following widespread confusion caused by reports circulating on social media, suggesting that applicants of the CMSS would be barred from applying for other scholarship programmes.
The misinformation had left many students and parents reluctant to apply, fearing they might lose access to higher-value central scholarships.
In a statement, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma assured that students availing the CMSS will still be eligible for the Post Matric ST Scholarship or any other central or state schemes.
The CMSS 2025 is open to domiciled students from Class XI up to the Ph.D. level, enrolled in recognised full-time courses. The last date for submission of applications is September 30, 2025.
