India, Morocco ink defence pact

NEW DELHI,Sep 22: India and Morocco on Monday inked an agreement to boost military cooperation following talks between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his Moroccan counterpart Abdeltif Loudiyi.Singh is currently on a visit to Morocco.“Had a very productive meeting with Morocco’s Defence Minister Mr. Abdeltif Loudiyi and we signed an MoU on cooperation in field of defence,” he said on ‘X’.The MoU will provide for an institutional framework to expand and deepen bilateral defence engagement, including exchanges, training, and industrial linkages, officials said.“India’s ties with Morocco are growing remarkably over the years. We discussed ways to deepen collaboration in key areas, including counter-terrorism efforts, maritime security, cyber defence and capacity building,” Singh added.Singh’s visit to Morocco is the first-ever trip to that country by an Indian defence minister. Man hacks wife to death, announces murder on FB

KOLLAM (Kerala), Sep 22: A 39-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death by her husband, who later announced the murder on Facebook Live, at Koothanadi near Punalur.The deceased was identified as Shalini.Her husband, Isaac (42) later surrendered. ”At around 6.30 am, when Shalini went near the pipeline behind the kitchen to take a bath, the accused attacked her with a knife, inflicting deep injuries on her neck, chest, and back,” the FIR said.Soon after the crime, Isaac went live on Facebook, admitting to the murder and making allegations of distrust and misappropriation of jewellery against Shalini.In the two-minute video, Isaac alleged that Shalini never obeyed him and had moved to live with her mother.He accused her of purchasing a vehicle by pledging her jewellery and expressed resentment over her employment and active attendance at political party meetings.He later reached the police station and informed the cops about murdering his wife. Clash over ‘desecration’ of Durga idol

MUMBAI, Sep 22: Tensions flared after an idol of Goddess Durga was allegedly desecrated in Mumbai, leading to a clash between two groups.The police have arrested seven persons in connection with the incident which took place in Mankhurd area.The idol was being carried through a narrow lane on the eve of Navratri.Some persons found a hand of the idol broken and started arguing with another group, alleging its role in it.A clash then broke out between the two groups, whose members assaulted each other.The police later intervened and brought the situation under control. (PTI)
