SHILLONG, Sep 24: Road connectivity in Resubelpara is expected to see significant improvement with two long-pending projects drawing attention from Cabinet Minister and local MLA Timothy D Shira.
The first is the Resu Dekachang-Anogre road through Rongronghaat. Originally built in 1972, the stretch has a five-kilometre gap between Gabil and Rongronghaat that has never been completed. Though some work began last year, the road remains a bottleneck, slowing movement between Tura and Resubelpara and causing inconvenience for those heading towards Guwahati. Shira said that Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has assured him the missing link would be constructed. The second project is the Songsak-Mendipathar road, which is set to receive World Bank funding of ₹145 crore. Once taken up, the upgraded road is expected to become a vital transport corridor, strengthening accessibility in the area.
