CM hails M’laya as premier concert destination of India

SHILLONG, Sep 25: With Meghalaya’s iconic Cherry Blossom Festival being conferred the Golden Banyan Award in the category of Best Cultural Music & Dance at The Week Heritage Awards recently, an elated Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has said that the state has firmly established itself as India’s premier concert destination.
In a post on X, Sangma described the festival as “a magnet for music lovers and cultural enthusiasts from across the country and beyond.”
He added that with “an ever-growing lineup of world-class performers and immersive cultural experiences, Meghalaya has firmly established itself as India’s premier Concert Destination, fueling the rise of the nation’s #ConcertEconomy.”
The chief minister congratulated the organisers, writing: “Congratulations to Team @meghtourism and Team Rockski for consistently delivering this spectacular event each year.”
Held annually in Shillong, the Cherry Blossom Festival has emerged as one of India’s leading cultural showcases, blending music, dance and the natural beauty of the region.
Meanwhile, organisers and officials say that the event has significantly contributed to the state’s entertainment and concert economy, supporting artists, performers and local businesses alike.
