18-year-old drowns in SGH lake

BAGHMARA, Sep 29: In another tragic accident, an 18-year-old drowned while taking a bath in one of the deeper sections of a lake near the village of Sibbari in South Garo Hills (SGH).
The incident took place around 11 AM on Monday morning with search and rescue operation teams being able to fish out the body at about 2 PM.
As per sources, the 18-year-old, identified as Krisbirth R Marak of Upper Rongdotchi, Baghmara, had gone along with his family to mine sand in the river when feeling the heat, decided to take a dip in the nearby Bania Wari.
However, the 18-year-old was not adept at swimming and somehow reached the deeper section of the lake where he was swept into. His hapless parents were nearby when the incident took place but were unable to help due to the deep waters.
