CCTV surveillance to monitor drug hotspots

SHILLONG, Sep 30: The state government has decided to install CCTV surveillance in drug and trafficking hotspots across the city.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the project will be implemented on a pilot project basis to monitor the situation and asked the police department to identify the hotspots.
He also said that he will ensure the installation of CCTV cameras in areas where local Dorbar Shnongs are willing to cooperate with the police to crack down on drug cases.
The government has also started the process of integrating data from the Command and Control Centre to handle any situation and incidents in the city.
