Nongpoh, Sep 30: Two persons received injuries when the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the NH-6 and plunged into a roadside drain at Umsamlem village in Ri Bhoi on Tuesday.
According to sources, the accident occurred at around 4:30 p.m. Eyewitnesses said the mishap was caused by overspeeding, which led the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Francise Myrchiang of Mawiong, and another occupant of the vehicle, Fredrick Shangpliang, sustained injuries in the accident. Police from the Umsning outpost rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to Umsning CHC.
