KHADC CEM likely to allocate portfolios to EMs today

SHILLONG, Oct 8: Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Winston Tony Lyngdoh is likely to allocate portfolios to the Executive Members (EMs) of the new Executive Committee (EC) on Thursday.
On the advice of the CEM, Governor CH Vijayashankar on Tuesday notified the appointment of the EMs submitted by the Council.
Sources informed The Shillong Times on Wednesday that the Executive Members are expected to retain the same portfolios as in the previous EC, except for the newly inducted Executive Member, Denzil Raynard Chen, who is likely to be given charge of Elaka and Market.
The CEM himself is expected to handle key departments including Trade, Labour, General Administration, Posting and Transfer, Establishment, and Appointment, along with any other matters not allotted to other members.
Similarly, Mawthadraishan-Pariong MDC Powell Sohkhlet is likely to be given the Information Technology and Land Development portfolios, whilst Mawkynrew MDC Seiborlang Warbah is likely to be given charge of Finance and Taxation.
Laitumkhrah-Malki MDC Deiti H Majaw is likely to be allocated Law and Legal Matters, Marriage and Divorce, and Town Committee, and Mylliem MDC Aibandaplin F Nonglait is likely to get Health and Sanitation and Education.
Mawkyrwat MDC Pynkhrawboklin Kharjahrin is likely to be given Building Bye-Laws, Council Buildings and Council Assets.
Further, Umroi MDC Isnei Hinge is likely to look after Water Resources and Fisheries.
Meanwhile, in the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), on the advice of the Chief Executive Member, the Governor on Tuesday notified the appointment of Moonlight Pariat, MDC of Jowai South, as a Member of the Executive Committee in place of Het Pohthmi, who has been relieved of the post.
