SHILLONG, Oct 17: The state government has begun the rollout of the Chief Minister’s Youth Engagement Programme (CM-YEP) 2025, which will be held across 56 blocks and administrative headquarters under the theme ‘Empower Youth, Empower Meghalaya’.
The programme has already been launched in Jirang Block of Ri-Bhoi District and Zikzak Block of South West Garo Hills, Ampati.
The CM-YEP is a state government initiative aimed at encouraging youth participation in science and technology, arts, crafts and traditional culture. It includes a series of solo and group competitions such as poetry writing, story writing, painting, declamation, guitar, folk songs, folk dance, innovation in science and technology and quiz contests.
Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, DD Shira, said the programme provides a platform for young people to showcase their talents and channel their energy in the right direction. He urged students to participate actively while continuing to focus on their studies.
The District Sports Offices, in coordination with Block Development Offices, are organising the events. Further, youth fests are being held in all 56 blocks during October, followed by district-level rounds in November and the state-level Youth Fest in the first week of December 2025.
At the first block-level youth fests in Jirang and Zikzak, participants took part in activities including songs, dances, poetry and tug-of-war competitions. They also presented science and technology projects as part of the event. Prizes were distributed to winners, who will now represent their respective blocks in the district-level round.
The Department of Sports and Youth Affairs has informed that entry forms for CM-YEP 2025 are available at the offices of the Block Development Officers and District Sports Officers.
