Govt eyes around 22,000 jobs from upcoming tech parks in M’laya

SHILLONG, Oct 17: The state government is optimistic about generating around 22,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities through the creation of three tech parks in Meghalaya.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the first phase of the Shillong Tech Park in New Shillong, constructed at a cost of ₹62 crore, is already operational and has created 1,500 direct and 4,500 indirect employment opportunities. The second phase of the Shillong Tech Park, currently under construction and expected to be completed by December this year, will generate 3,000 direct and 9,000 indirect jobs. The second phase is being built at a cost of ₹120 crore.
Meanwhile, the Tura Tech Park, being constructed at a cost of ₹126 crore, is expected to create 1,000 direct and 3,000 indirect employment opportunities.
