Local holiday

All state government offices, all Revenue and Magisterial Courts and educational institutions in East Khasi Hills, as per an order, will remain closed as local holiday on November 6 on account of ‘Nongkrem Dance’. The order, issued by Commissioner and Secretary, General Administration Department, is not applicable to central government offices.

Meeting

The Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association (KJDSTA) will hold a meeting on November 1 at H Elias Memorial Higher Secondary School, Nongshylliang, Nongthymmai, to confirm the election process of the new office-bearers of the Association. The general meeting will also discuss crucial issues concerning the plight of deficit school teachers in Meghalaya. The association has urged representation of different units of the association at the crucial meeting.

Unclaimed body

An unknown male patient, aged 70 years, was brought to Civil Hospital, Shillong, by an ambulance after he was found lying near Ajmera. He was subsequently admitted in Male Medical Ward-I, Bed No.2, on October 24 at 11:51 AM. However, the patient expired on October 25 at 12:30 PM. In this regard, the Additional Director of Health Services, Civil Hospital, Shillong, has urged all concerned to identify and collect the body from the hospital morgue.

Office-bearers

The 15th Annual General Conference of the All Garo Hills Mangsang Ampang Mahari Association was held at Songsak in East Garo Hills recently, where its new office-bearers were elected. The association elected Jasper P Marak as president, Vicman M Sangma as vice president, Breaker M Sangma as general secretary, Jewil S Marak as joint secretary-cum-accountant and Letamuni M Sangma as treasurer besides 10 other executive members.
