Meghalaya storm into semifinals of Sub-Junior Boys NFC

Shillong, Oct 30: Meghalaya marched into the semifinals of the Sub-Junior Boys National Football Championship 2025-26 (Tier 2) with a commanding 4-0 victory over Himachal Pradesh in their final Group C encounter held at Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, on Wednesday morning.
It was yet another dazzling performance from Meghalaya’s in-form striker Marbiang Marwein, who netted a first-half hat-trick (8’, 39’, 45’+2) to take his personal goal tally to nine in the tournament.
His consistent brilliance earned him the Player of the Match award for the third game in a row.
Wanpyndapbor Nongsiej added a fourth goal in the 62nd minute to seal a flawless group-stage campaign for Meghalaya. Under the guidance of coach Dapmon Tariang, the young side collected a perfect nine points from three matches, having also defeated Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh earlier in the competition.With their confidence soaring, Meghalaya will now gear up for a high-stakes semifinal clash against Telangana on November 1 at 8:30 am. Like Meghalaya, Telangana too topped their group with an unbeaten record, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling contest between two in-form teams.
With momentum firmly on their side and a string of dominant performances to their name, Meghalaya will look to carry their winning rhythm into the semifinals. The clash against Telangana will not only test their resilience but also offer the young squad a golden opportunity to showcase the growing strength of grassroots football in the state on the national stage.
